Having fun with kids

Introduction

I love to have fun and have a kid. Here are some suggestions that you can try with interacting with kids with playing.

Be very patience

This is very important.  Kids are adults in training.  They need exposure to a lot to become well rounded adults.  The act of play is so important for them.  You have to keep this in mind when they aren't quite getting it.  Be a good teacher and allow them to grow.

Get them there own equipment

I think to myself, wow kids are expensive. It's true but what else I am going to spend my money on? Getting a kid a football, basketball, or gaming system of their own real helps there development.

My son and I play basketball together. I use the adult size basketballs and he switches between both. He practices most of the time with the youth size, but he switches to adult from time to time. He is nine and can shot and adult size ball. I am happy about that. I would like to think that it was because he had his own properly sized basketball and he felt comfortable trying the other size.

Answer all questions

If even some questions are duplicate, answer them.  Think back when you were a kid, you had tons of questions.  Hopefully, you had someone there that answered them for you.

If you don't know the answer be truthful.  You then have a project that you both can work on.  This is one of my definitions of quality time.

Don't yell

Yes, you see a lot examples where coaches are screaming and hollering at players trying to motivate them. This approach doesn't work on kids. This may seem like common sense but you would be surprised to see how many coaches are yelling at kids nowadays.

People tend to yell at kids because they are doing something wrong. You shouldn't yell at kids period. Yelling at kids because of bad behavior is sending a lot of negative signals. There are other ways to get your point across.
